AtomStack P7 M40

The AtomStack P7 is a laser engraver. Initially I wasn’t super excited to try it out, because its laser is “only“ 5 watts. Having worked with a much more impressive sounding 50 watt CO2 laser in the past, I wasn’t expecting much. But the beam is so much more concentrated on the AtomStack P7, it can blast through materials that my old CO2 laser wouldn’t scratch!

Wood engraving? Check. Stone and Slate Engraving? Check. Steel Engraving? Surprisingly, it can do that too.

This was an opportunity to branch out and try new things. Theres only so much that can be done with plastic FDM printers, and I’ve -almost- tried it all. Working with lasers was a nice change of pace. They have a bunch of advantages, mostly relating to the materials selection available when using a laser cutter. This video was a lot of fun to make, and I look forward to doing more work with lasers in the future!
